Craft Supplies Needed:

  • Wooden crate
  •  1’ x 2’ board
  •  Clamps
  • Wooden dowels
  • Assorted paints
  • Paint brushes
  • Cardboard
  • White parchment paper
  • Black cardstock
  • Templates (optional)
  • Wood glue
  • Hot glue sticks
  • Binder clips
  •  Paper towels
  •  Kraft paper or drop cloth

Steps To Follow:

1. Measure handle ends of your crate and cut the 1’ x 2’ to length for each end.

2. Mark center of 1’ x 2’ pieces, clamp and drill a hole just larger than the dowel.

3. Measure, mark and cut dowel to length to sit securely in the holes you drilled.

4. Sand any rough edges on your cut pieces.

5. Using wood glue and clamps, attach your 1x2 pieces to the crate and allow to dry.

6. While you wait, trace or draw the front scene elements onto cardboard and cut out with scissors.

7. Once the wood glue is dry, paint the entire crate and dowels the desired base color. We went with a nice seasonal black.

8. Using acrylic paint, paint your cardboard scene elements and let dry.
(TIP: Use a crumpled paper towel to dab at your paint, adding texture to your gravestones.)

9. Add accents and definition with your permanent marker.

10. Arrange and affix your cardboard elements with hot glue.

11. Trace the ghost shape onto the parchment paper. Cut it out and add facial features with glue and cardstock.

12. Remove the dowel from the crate. Using wood glue, attach your parchment ghost to the center of the painted dowel. Secure it with binder clips and allow it to dry.

13. Place HART fan in the crate with the blades pointing up.

14. Install dowel and ghost in the crate, over the fan.

15. Turn on and adjust airflow direction as needed. Say BOO!
