5 DIY Backyard Games For Family Fun

The weather is heating up and so are summer game nights. With the help of HART and a little bit of skill, you can get your backyard ready for a little friendly competition. From Cornhole to Giant Jenga, these five DIY Outdoor Games will earn you bragging rights at your next party. (Whether you win any games or not.)

DIY Cornhole Board Set

Cornhole is *the* game invented for the backyard. Steve Ford showed us how to put a modern spin on this classic lawn game. This beautiful cornhole set is guaranteed to be the hit of your next barbecue. Make your own bean bags by sewing together squares of fabric that match the boards and filling them with dried beans or lentils. Read this blog to follow his step-by-step instructions to make your own.

DIY RIng Toss

Ring toss is a pretty simple game: Take a ring and toss it over a stake. Actually, it’s harder than it looks—you definitely need some good hand-eye coordination. (Perfect for little ones honing their throwing skills.) Luckily, it’s simple to make and fun for the whole family to play. Read this blog to see how we did it.

DIY Giant Jenga

When you quadruple the size of this game, you quadruple the fun. Requiring some woodworking skills, this DIY Giant Jenga will take a few hours to build, but is SO totally worth it. Just remember to yell *TIMBER* before this massive stack comes crashing down. Read this blog for materials, tools and step-by-step instructions.

DIY Hook & Ring Games

Got a bit of a competitive streak in your family? Then you’ll love this simple, but challenging game. Crystal of @CrystalKirby_DIYhome and DeLancey of @TheCarsonHome have both created these fun Hook and Ring games (which are possibly the easiest DIY projects you’ll ever do). They’re great for parties, backyard fun and just everyday boredom busters for the kids.

DIY Ladder Toss

Ladder Toss is one of simplest, but most addicting summer games to play in groups. This DIY created by Laura from @Knapptime_Crafts will have your guests lining up to wait their turn to play. And best of all, you don’t need a lot of tools to create it.

Hope you had as much fun playing these games as you did building them. We'd love to see how they turned out, post your pics and tag #DoItWithHART.
